Keynsham Methodist Church - Ecumenical
Keynsham Methodist Church is a partner with other churches in Keynsham in Churches Together in Keynsham and Saltford (CTKS). During 2008 we celebrated a year long programme called More to Life 08 which offered our community the opportunity to find 'signposts to God through the passions of life'.
We have been working closely together for a number of years and continue so to do. In particular, the churches share in the following ventures:
-
Friends in Need - a telephone-based system of requesting a driver to assist with hospital or doctors appointments where other transport options are not viable
-
Schools Ministry Team - a number of small teams of people attached to each of the primary schools in Keynsham and Saltford, who lead an assembly in 'their' school at least three times a year and offer support in classroom work and other ways
-
Outreach to Older People (OOP) - a number of small teams of people linked to the individual residential and care homes and some sheltered housing groupings who lead worship on a monthly basis
-
Christian Aid - the central group supporting the work of the charity across the area. This year following Christian Aid week in May, a total in excess of £7,000 was banked.
-
Keynsham & District Talking Newspaper (KTN) - a member of the National Association of Talking Newspapers providing a monthly service for the blind and partially-sighted. Tapes are produced with both news and magazine articles and are then sent to over 200 listeners.
-
Base Café - an ecumenical youth group that meets monthly on a Saturday evening. For further details click here
-
Lunch Club - a monthly lunch for those who would normally eat alone. Transport is provided in cooperation with the local Dial-a-Ride service operated by Bath & North East Somerset Council. http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/BathNES/healthandsocial/communitytransport/KeynshamDistrictDialaRide.htm

In addition, Churches Together has representatives on the Primary Care Trust Stakeholders' group looking at the development of the new Health Park and on the Keynsham Town Council Centre Steering group.
